“Marie Matteson MS is one of my favorite practitioners in the Bellingham Washington area. Every time I am going through a new ‘step in growth’ I call upon Marie for her wisdom and guidance and her expert muscle testing. In fact she has presented several times at my Medical Intuitive Training – coming up this October in Bellingham.

Through muscle testing (which she can do in person or remotely) Marie can pick up imbalances or blocks which could be preventing you from emotional release, successful weight loss or achieving any goal. I am looking forward to my Birthday session with Marie in March!

She can help to identify emotions that may be creating an imbalance in your life. She uses simple, yet profound ways to clear blocks and empower you to create positive outcomes.”

Thank you, Caroline!

According to a study by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in 2004 here is a list of foods that cause inflammation and may be directly related to heart disease.

Sugar

Soda

alcohol

bread

red meat

Trans Fats (found in snack foods, fried foods, baked goods, cookies, vegetable shorting, some margarines, salad dressings, and many processed foods)

Non Inflammatory foods … This should come as no surprise … Fresh Fruits and Vegetables. Not canned, not processed, but fresh. We could have the discussion about organic, but honestly, if you can afford to purchase organically grown, do it. If you are on a budget, like most of us are, then try to buy the ones you eat the most of.

SCENAR is an acronym for Self Controlling Energo-Neuro Adaptive Regulation, and denotes both a therapy and the advanced medical treatment device with which this therapy is applied. It is one of the most effective, non-invasive, pain-relieving tools available today.

It has an impeccable pedigree because of its start from the TENS machine concept: the gifted genius inventor of SCENAR, Alexander Karasev, found TENS not flexible and powerful enough to deal with the type of disorder that was affecting a member of his family, and so decided to improve on TENS. And as the saying goes, the rest of history… not only has he gone on to design increasingly sophisticated SCENAR devices, but all devices that can be classed as SCENAR technology-based in one form or another derive from one of his devices.

Over 30 years of experience with this evolving technology and therapeutic processes in Russia and the other former Eastern European nations has resulted in many remarkable healings in situations considered hopeless.

At its simplest, the SCENAR device is used by the therapist to assist a patient’s body to re-activate its self-regulatory mechanism which was pushed out of equilibrium by an accident or disease. There is no diagnostic in the conventional medical sense involved – the body, via the SCENAR device and its trained operator, will itself indicate what it needs for self-healing. This self-regulation is achieved by the body’s neuropeptides, sometimes called the body’s very own in-built pharmacy, being stimulated into action by the SCENAR device and appropriate treatment protocols.

Although SCENAR makes no claims beyond its ability most effectively to deal with pain, the stimulation of the body’s own self-regulatory mechanism can bring about some of the powerful changes the body may require on its way back to a state of balance (homoeostasis). Indeed, 30 plus years of experience in Russia has demonstrated this time and time again. The processes under which these beneficial effects are achieved are taught by ISTA-registered trainers at the advanced levels of SCENAR training.

Because of its effectiveness in dealing with pain, SCENAR is sometimes wrongly confused with the TENS machine, which blocks pain. SCENAR, which evolved from TENS, stimulates the body into self-regulating away the cause of the pain. SCENAR technology seeks through the device to emulate a living system which in dialogue with another living system triggers the processes necessary for self-stimulating the body back into a balanced, healthy state.

What is SCENAR?

30 years ago a group of Russian scientists, engineers and physicians, commenced development work on the concept of SCENAR invented by Alexander Karasev. They set themselves the task to design a non-invasive, portable treatment device, perhaps even suitable to accompany cosmonauts into space. Following extensive clinical and technical trials, SCENAR (sometimes spelt with a “k”) in 1986 was approved by the USSR Medical Council for use both in hospitals and the home. The model most widely known (the RITM 97.4) is powered by a 9v battery; on a quick glance it could be mistaken for a TV remote control unit. In fact it is a highly sophisticated device designed to be an informational analogue to a living system.

The theories underlying SCENAR therapy draw on Functional Medicine, as well as traditional Chinese medicine, and centre on the concept that the human body is a finely tuned functional system continually maintaining itself in balance (homeostasis). Normally the body adapts in a self-regulatory manner to the stimuli reaching it from both internal and external sources, making it a dynamic but stable system. When something disrupts this adaptive process, e.g. trauma or disease, balance is lost and the self-regulating process may need to be re-started through an external catalyst, such as SCENAR.

SCENAR therapy is a complex form of electrotherapy which delivers specific electrical stimulation impulses to the body via in-built and/or remote electrodes in direct contact with the skin’s surface. The impulses mimic the electrical signals produced by the patient’s nervous system so as to stimulate the organism to heal itself with optimum efficiency and safety. By bringing the SCENAR device into contact with the patient’s skin, bio-feedback from the presenting pain / disease dynamics (or lack of them) will determine the appropriate impulses. They will be specific to each patient and at any given time. SCENAR’s actions aim at both the “fast” pain-blocking A-fibers and the “slow” pain producing and peptide generating C-fibers.

Explained at its simplest, the SCENAR’s sophisticated circuitry “listens” to the patient’s body and then determines the most appropriate signals and dosages that, in any given instance, need to be provided to stimulate self-healing. The body’s self-healing is effected through neuro- and other peptides, sometimes described as the body’s in-built pharmacy. The dosed signal stream, consisting of waveform, signal strength and frequency, can be varied, either by pre-selection, by the SCENAR therapist, or automatically, by the control circuitry of the device. The automatic process can be overridden by the SCENAR therapist with guidance from visual indicators, which can emanate from the device, either as numeric or color-coded LED displays, or both, and as sound signals, or from direct indicators from the patient’s skin. The experienced therapist can draw on a comprehensive range of treatment variations to deal with both acute and chronic conditions.

SCENAR therapy can alleviate chronic and acute pain in a wide variety of circumstances, and is therefore approved as a pain relieving therapy in most Western countries and throughout Eastern Europe. Russian practitioners, with a much deeper and longer experience of SCENAR than any of their Western counterparts, lay claim to a much wider range of healing successes, additional to the treatment of pain.

Our Bodies – Life is experienced in the body. Feeding the body with nutritionally sound food and creating ways to move the body through play is essential.

Our Minds - Our thoughts are who we are. Providing rich learning environments that honor learning styles and the freedom to choose learning experiences that enhance learning potential.

Our Emotions – Emotional intelligence is one key to a healthy life. Increasing emotional intelligence through practicing emotional control and validating emotions develops resilience.

Our Spirit - Spirit is our divine essence. Discovering the divine spark, finding the quiet place within and connecting to nature enhance intuition and expand awareness and value of self.

These are the essential keys to wellness. We are intricate human beings and having a good balance in these four areas help us to achieve healthy lifestyle. Let’s explore the first key; I encourage you to check in with your self. Are you happy with your body? Could you use a little help deciding what is the healthiest foods specifically for you? Learn to use simple techniques to help you choose the best food choices for your body. “The arm test,” pulse, blood pressure, and bio-feedback are excellent ways that assist you in making the best decisions. Many people use a pendulum or have learned muscle testing. If you would like assistance learning some of these techniques, I suggest the book Energy Diagnostics by Fred Gallo.

If you are unhappy with your body due to weight management, first consult your physician for your options. Then explore your options. Caroline Sutherland authors the series “The Body Knows: Cracking The Weight Loss Code”, an excellent book to read about the Candida Albicans connection.

How did I get to this place of imbalance? My hip hurts, my back hurts and I just want to lie on the floor! This is a follow up to a question in the office this week….

Your body responds to all types of input from within and outside influences, like what you eat, the weather, how your move, i.e. run walk, twist, turn, what you hear and your minds interpretation of all of it. For instance, it is warm weather, you are not taking in enough water, which may lead to a slight to moderate dehydration, your brain is storing that information and chunks it with a twisting movement, and the emotional stress of having to chase a kid suddenly, or moving before the end of the month. You have unknowingly created a recipe for low back or hip pain. Now what do you do?

Well, what has worked in the past? Drinking fluids is a good start. Now I’m talking water, Emergen C or a low sugar, not an alcohol kinda fluid.

Next, what are you going to do about the stresses?

I’ve got a great solution that takes less than one minute. It looks kind of funny, but it’s super simple to do. I wrote an article about it in Woman’s Day, September 2007. Emotional Stress Release is an exercise that you do with your conscious mind and “clears” the stress signals from the brain to the affected body part. I can even show you how it lowers blood pressure! Call for a free 15 minute consultation! There are literally thousands of applications.

How is it possible that so many body parts are connected? Simple, we are a matrix of nerve and connective tissue that refer pain all over the place. That includes from places that you would not expect. Take for instance the shoulder pain that you have on and off for no good reason. Are you sure that the meds really take away the problem? What have you tried? Was it an injury?

Let me share from personal experience this little tid bit… No shoulder injury, just a pain behind my shoulder blades, a dull ache that I thought was referred from my kidneys. Well it turns out that the gallbladder can refer pain to just about anywhere in the upper body, but usually the right shoulder, through to the back, or up around the neck. I’m not a medical doctor, so I can’t give a diagnosis, but I can say that keeping a food diary helps a lot to get to the cause of the problem. I wrote down things that made my pain worse, foods included. Since I am trained to muscle test myself and others, I did that too. WOW! I had the help of my naturopath, Dr. Mystique Grobe and made an appointment to see a surgeon. I was amazed that I had no dull achy pain, just four tiny incisions when I woke up from surgery. No more indigestion, gallbladder pain, heartburn, AND no more shoulder pain. How cool is that!?

If you want to try muscle testing foods, or a achy pains we can discover what you body is saying.
